About

How this directory works

A free listing of UK cleaning companies, organised by town and by job, built so that finding someone takes a minute rather than an afternoon.

What we do

We list cleaning companies across every UK town and city with more than 10,000 people, alongside plain information about what each job involves and what it usually costs. You contact the business directly using the details on their page.

What we do not do

  • We take no commission and sell no leads. Nothing you do on this site costs a cleaner money, so nobody has to price that in.
  • We do not rank or review businesses. There are no scores and no verdicts here. We publish facts about who trades where and at what.
  • We do not copy ratings or reviews from other platforms. Those belong to the sites that collected them, and a rating lifted out of its context stops meaning very much.

How listings get here

Businesses are found through public sources: Google local listings, the trade marketplaces, the member lists of the accreditation schemes, and Companies House. Every listing is checked against at least two independent sources before it publishes, one of which has to be something the business itself controls. Each page shows when it was last checked, and anything not re-checked within eighteen months drops down the list and then comes off.

Where a search engine marks a result as an advertisement, that result is not used. A paid placement shows that somebody bought it and nothing else, so it is no basis for appearing here.

What the Owner verified badge means

An Owner verified (paid check) badge means a person has seen that business’s documents; its profile lists which, and the dates. A check looked for a public liability insurance certificate, photo identification for the person named, proof of the trading address, and an enhanced DBS certificate where the work involves being alone in somebody’s home. Whatever passed is listed on the profile by name, with the date it was seen and the date it runs out, because a badge that does not say what it covers is worth only what the reader is willing to assume.

The fee bought the checking, not the badge. Nobody could pay to be labelled verified without sending the documents, and the badge comes off when the insurance certificate behind it runs out.

Most listings are not verified, and that is not a mark against them. It usually means the business has never been asked, since every listing on this site was compiled from public sources rather than sold to its owner. The dotted mark on an unverified profile is an invitation to that business, not a warning to you, which is why it appears on the profile and not on the lists where you are comparing one cleaner against another.

It is also not a verdict on the work. It says documents were seen. That is a smaller and more checkable thing than saying somebody is good at cleaning, and it is the one of the two this site can stand behind.

What the company number means

Where a listing trades as a limited company and we have been able to find it on the Companies House register, the profile carries the company number, the year it was incorporated, and whether the register currently shows it as active. The number is a link to the register entry, so every part of it can be read at source rather than taken on trust from us.

It says a company of that name legally exists, how long it has existed, and that it has not been dissolved. It is a registration rather than a qualification, so the standard of the work is a separate question. Nor does the year of incorporation tell you when the business started: plenty of firms here traded for a decade or two under one person’s name before incorporating, so a long trading history beside a recent incorporation date is the normal shape of that story rather than a mistake. A good many capable cleaners are sole traders who have never incorporated and never needed to, and an absent company number on this site means only that: either there is no company, or the trading name differs from the registered one by enough that we would have been guessing. We would rather show you nothing than attach the wrong company to somebody.

Getting something changed

Every listing has a Modify listing button that reaches a person. Corrections are free and unconditional. If you want your business taken off, say so and it comes off, with no questions and no attempt to talk you out of it.

A town is missing

A town has a page once at least one checked cleaner is based in it or lists it as an area they cover. A town nobody listed covers has no page, because an empty page is not much use to anybody. Towns are being added continuously. If yours is not here yet and you know somebody good, tell us.
