How much does ironing service cost?
Ironing costs £14 to £22 an hour, £15 to £25 a standard bag, or £1.50 to £3 a shirt. Wash, dry and iron together runs £20 to £35 a bag, and collection and delivery is usually included within a few miles.

Ask what a bag holds in items rather than what it costs. Bag pricing is the norm in this trade, no standard bag exists, and a service five pounds dearer that takes half again as much is the cheaper one.
What moves the price
- The pricing model, and what a bag actually holds, which is where two quotes differ.
- Whether washing is included as well as ironing.
- Volume and regularity. A weekly customer prices better than an occasional one.
- Bedding and larger items, which take disproportionate time.
- Collection radius, and whether you are inside the fixed round.
- Turnaround. Next-day costs more than a fixed weekly day.

Is collection included?
Usually within a few miles, on a fixed day. Beyond that radius it is a surcharge or not offered.
What if something is damaged?
Ask before, not after. A service with public liability insurance and a stated policy is a different proposition from one that will apologise.
