Cost guide
How much does office cleaning cost?
Office cleaning costs £17 to £25 an hour on a contract and £24 to £36 ad hoc. A small office cleaned two hours a day, five days a week, runs roughly £700 to £1,100 a month, and consumables add £40 to £90 on top.
Typical prices
Ranges, not quotes. A quote depends on the floor area and how many times a week they come.
| Work | Typical UK price |
|---|---|
| Hourly rate, contract | £15 to £22 |
| Hourly rate, ad hoc or one-off | £20 to £30 |
| Small office, 2 hours a day, 5 days | £700 to £1,100 a month |
| Small office, 3 visits a week | £600 to £1,000 a month |
| Consumables, small office | £40 to £90 a month |
| Periodic carpet clean, per room | £35 to £60 |
Count the washrooms before you ask for quotes. Office cleaning is priced from floor area and washroom count, and the second number is the one that moves a monthly figure by hundreds, so two quotes that disagree usually disagree about how often those rooms are being done.
What moves the price
- Washrooms, which drive the price further than floor area does and are the slowest rooms in the building.
- Frequency. Five days a week is not five times the weekly cost, because a weekly visit has more to do each time.
- Hours. Before six in the morning or after eight at night carries a premium.
- Consumables, included or billed on, and stated either way.
- Desk policy. A specification that includes clearing desks takes longer than one that cleans around them.
- Periodic work: carpets, high level dusting and internal windows, quoted separately from the daily list.

Questions about office cleaning
Who supplies the consumables?
Either party, and it should be stated. Hand towels, soap and bin liners run £40 to £90 a month for a small office.
How often do we need washrooms done?
Daily wherever there is daily occupancy. They are the rooms complaints come from and the ones a reduced schedule shows in first.
