Cotswold stone is limestone, which is calcium carbonate, which means an acid etches it. That is the exact opposite of the advice for a bathroom, where an acid is what the limescale needs, and it is why a general-purpose descaler used on a stone terrace leaves dull patches that cannot be cleaned out.
