Cheltenham and the Cotswolds around it have a lot of natural stone flooring, and stone is the floor where the wrong product does permanent damage. Limestone and marble are calcium carbonate, so an acid etches them, and an acidic descaler used on a stone floor leaves dull patches that cannot be cleaned out.
That is the reverse of the advice for a bathroom, where an acid is exactly what the limescale needs. Knowing which surface is under the dirt decides the product, and it is the single most useful thing to establish before anybody starts.
