Unsealed wood is the floor that water ruins, and a great deal of Preston's Victorian housing has original boards under whatever went down later. Water raises the grain, blackens around nail heads and lifts the edges of boards, and none of that comes back out.
The correct method is barely damp and quick, or dry altogether, and it rules out most of what works on vinyl or tile. A company that establishes whether a floor is sealed before deciding how to clean it is protecting something that cannot be replaced.
