Green on a shaded wall is algae growing in the surface rather than dirt sitting on it, and the difference decides the method. It has to be killed with a biocide given time to work, then rinsed at a pressure the surface survives.
Older brick is the one to be careful with here. St Helens has a great deal of Victorian and Edwardian brickwork, and a lance held close takes the fired face off a soft brick, after which it absorbs water and weathers faster than the bricks around it. That damage is permanent and it is easy to do in a minute.
