A ceramic or induction hob is glass, and the marks on it are usually sugar or starch fused to the surface rather than grease. Abrasives scratch it permanently and the right tool is a purpose-made scraper held almost flat, followed by a cream cleaner.
The one that cannot be fixed is aluminium transfer, where a pan base has melted slightly onto the glass, and it needs dealing with quickly before heat cycles bond it further. A company that identifies which mark is which is saving a hob rather than cleaning one.
